Dear Parent(s),
During third grade your child will be expected to memorize the Apostles Creed, Confiteor, and the Greatest Commandment. We
will be testing students throughout the school year on these as well as other prayers learned in previous years (Our Father,
Hail Mary, etc.) We have placed some of these prayers below. The others can be found in the Parent Handbook. We would appreciate
very much students practicing these at home.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his
only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life
everlasting. Amen.
Along with the Apostles' Creed, the Confiteor
is another prayer expected to be memorized in Third Grade. This is listed below.
Confiteor
I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own
fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin,
all the angels and saints, and you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Morning Prayer
Oh loving God, I give you this day, all that I think, and do, and say. I give you
my love, with Jesus Your Son, today I will try to love everyone. Amen
