Newman Catholic Third Grade

Unit 1 Religion Test

Dear Parent(s),

 

On October 28, 2008 we will be having a test over unit two, “Responding to God”, in religion class. This test will be multiple choice and matching. We will also have one short answer question. Just a reminder that our third grade web page is an excellent way to review for our religion quizzes and unit tests. The address is mrankin.newman.iowapages.org or just log onto the Newman webpage and click third grade. Once you get to our homepage click on Harcourt Religion. Listed below are the things your child should be familiar with for the test.

 

1.     prayer – talking and listening to God

 

2.     mystery – a truth of the Catholic faith that people don’t fully understand

 

3.     Holy Trinity – three Persons in one God

 

4.     worship – honoring God in prayer and actions

 

5.     tabernacle – container for the Blessed Sacrament

 

6.     creed – a statement of basic beliefs

 

7.     The Apostles’ Creed is one of the Church’s oldest creeds

 

8.     Mass is the most important way for Catholics to pray and worship.

 

9.     Church teaching requires that you receive Holy Communion at least once a year during the Easter Season.

 

10. Catholics gather for Mass to hear God’s word in scripture.

 

11. An intercession is prayer for God’s help for other people.

 

12. A prayer of petition is a prayer that asks for something that you need or want.

 

13. Saint Patrick is a person who helped the Irish understand the three Persons in one God.

 

14.  A prayer of blessing is a prayer returning God’s love.

 

15. A prayer of praise shows amazement of God’s greatness.

 

16. How does attending Sunday Mass help you be a good person/

 

Acceptable answers might talk about how we hear Scriptures that teach us how Jesus wants us to live, Jesus comes to us in a special way during communion to help our lives become better, when we attend mass we are honoring the Sabbath day, so we feel good about honoring God.
